Not actual car, stolen from Cars.com first result for proper year/trim
I thought we’d be stuck buying an un-oppo un-fun SUV since my wife did not like the way the buick or MB wagon rode and drove. She wants that SUV feeling and being a father of two small children and a husband of a wonderful wife I just don’t have the bloody energy to fight about how SUV’s are just stupider and more expensive station wagons if she’s not even going to let me play in the mud and snow (she does let me, but, money)...
Then she fell in love with a Volvo XC-90 T6 Inscription. It is very nice (read: expensive) but I failed to notice how much I’d love it until we were driving it and the sales person said “oh yea, switch it to dynamic mode, you’ll notice the polestar tuning!”.
That little blue badge, it saves that truck. It is wonderful and oh so slightly more oppo now.

Few other options to drive yet (Expedition, mostly) but it’s a strong favorite right now.

Sweet ride! That is definitely one of the more wagony SUVs, always has been.
The drivetrain scares me and the big interior touchscreen is not my cup of tea, but the car is fundamentally outstanding.

Think that’s definitely a great option if going for a three-row SUV. Least it doesn’t blend in as much.

Sure, money, but go play in the mud post-purchase anyway, it’s worth it!

Volvos are oppo-friendly by default

FWIW I’d say a Volvo will have at least as high maintenance cost as a BMW or Audi. If you’d crossed those out, you might as well consider them now. A Q7 (or dare I say hybrid Touareg) with the supercharged 3.0 will probably be more reliable than the twin-charged Volvo.

They are essentially WASPy Subarus after all.
I love mine.

Audi has no remote start so is ruled out by default, BMW is according to my wife “Ugly as sin” so it is done too. We’ll look at a GLWhateverTheyCallThem now as well as an Atlas and a few others to be sure.

engine longevity scares the piss out of me at over 300 hp & tq. We slap 30k+ a year on our primary vehicle so we’ll know quick if it’s a problem lol.

I’ve been driving XC90’s. It’s looking like a solid contender for my next new car. The dynamic mode really changes things up!
